October, in the colourful mountainous landscape of southern Vermont we said our vows in front of family and friends. The location was particularly special, as it was the same place where Tarek proposed one year before.
I named the style of our do “Gatsby-Rustic”, it was a mixture of whimsical, inspired by nature, and adorned with a glitzy glam of the 1920’s.
Our wedding was a DIY creation in so many ways, which helped keep costs down and added so much love to everything because we created it together. The wedding decorations were handcrafted and family helped with so much too. The memories of the day were captured by our wonderful photographer, Elizabeth Viggiano.
My dress is a Jenny Packham gown, style Lisette.
Our rings were custom-made. Mine, is a simple platinum band from Blue Nile.
The centerpieces comprised of gold and shabby chic white painted mason jars, large wood slices, and vintage bottles. The “all you need is love” coasters were cut from birch also, sanded, and branded with a custom made stamp. Tea lights were dipped in glitter or wrapped with blue bows. Table names were printed and placed into birch tree block holders.
The beautiful wedding flowers were home grown by my Mother-in-law! They are a mixture of cosmos and zinnias.
Tarek built our wedding alter from birch trees.
I absolutely love this photo Lizzie captured, it’s pure genius!
Cream and peach coloured tissue pom-poms hung on a thread from the ceiling of the tent and white mesh fabric was wrapped around the centre pole.
Our first dance was lit with sparkles!
We created a fall themed menu and sourced menu items near and far! The autumn bisque and clam chowder soups were brought all the way from Bobette’s in Milford Connecticut. It was a mission to bring them all that way, but completely worth it. The catering was by River Valley Market, a local grocery store with locally sourced meats and a farm right on the property! They cooked, catered, served drinks and they were great! The mac and cheese came from The Vermont Country Deli in Brattleboro. It’s one of our favourite spots to visit in Vermont for prepared food! Then last but certainly not least, a selection of pies and cakes were baked by Tarek’s dear mother. Pumpkin pies, apple pies, and a carrot cake. I baked a chocolate and banana cake, and a gluten free brownie cake.
