Each year Pantone Institute of Color select a palate inspired by our global culture, from fashion to politics, that summarizes a current “mood and an attitude”. For 2017, the primary colour is a lush yellow hue green.
The choice represents “satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the re-connection we seek with nature, with one another and a larger purpose,” said, Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director at Pantone. Spending time outdoors in nature is the ideal way to quench this thirst, but generally, we spend most of our lives indoors. In America, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average American spends 7% of their entire life outdoors.
While making time to get outside for fresh air and to recharge is important, we can’t spend our working hours doing this. So unless your profession is a horticulturist, the next best way is to bring the outdoors in.
Luckily, there are plenty of options to choose from. You can fill your home with plants to purify the air or hang tropical wall art to enhance your surroundings. And if you are looking for colours that match, then try metallic tones like gold and copper. Or, for a daring and vibrant range then mix it with orange or purple.
See below for my suggestions on ways you can easily and affordably bring greenery into your home, office, and your wardrobe.
